Aging-In-Place Consultation in Atlanta, Georgia

Love the home you have now? Want to stay in your neighborhood but your current home no longer fits your lifestyle or your changing physical needs?
In 2005, Mary Chapman Donovan earned the "Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist" designation. This program, specializing in remodeling homes to meet the needs of aging individuals, required initial multi-day training and testing followed by stringent continuing education requirements. Coming from a professional background that includes years of designing for healthcare institutions, Mary has a distinct advantage over her competitors.
As your Aging-in-Place specialist, Mary can make recommendations for:
- Better circulation within your home (including changes in door sizes, furniture layout)
- Remodel of bathrooms
- Remodel of kitchen
- Better choice of floor coverings, furniture & lighting
- Safety improvements both indoors and out
With her additional college degree in environmental horticulture/landscape design, Mary realized no one was teaching landscape designers to handle the needs of our aging population in the outdoor environment. In direct answer to this void, Mary Donovan developed and taught a continuing education course to inform her fellow landscape designers about this emerging need within our society. The original course called "Creating or Remodeling Landscapes for Empty Nesters" now has a consumer version called "Rethink, Redesign Your Landscape".
